hp product quality

I have had mixed advice on hp laptops can anyone give advice on reliability, customer back up etc

Both my daughter and I have HP laptops. I bought them both through John Lewis online who throw in an extra year's warranty. My daughter's hard drive gave up after 13 months. HP support was very quick and efficient and her laptop was collected and returned in under two weeks with a new hard drive and mobo. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
