or what about this one
Acer Aspire 5742 15.6 inch Notebook
( Intel Core i3-370M processor 2.4GHz, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, DVD, Webcam, Wireless, Windows 7 Home Premium) - Black

What are the prices for the above?

Also consider this Acer Aspire 5742Z for £380 (cheapest I could find this model at a recognised store) click here

It has 4Gb RAM & a 500Gb HDD - you may not need them but it may offer better value than the ones above?

15.6" HD Acer CineCrystal™ LED LCD (16:9 1366*768) / Intel Pentium P6100 / 4GB / 500GB / DVD-Writer / Webcam / Wireless / Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit / VGA / HDMI / Black

thanks crossbow, the acer 5742 i listed above is also 380 on amazon. it only has 3GB RAM but is the processor(core i3) better?
What should i go for out of the Acer 5742 on amazon or 5742Z you mention?

  daveella123 21:29 11 Jan 2011

oh,and forgot to say the Dell inspiron one i listed first is at 380 too,as a refurb though.
Would this be better than an Acer?

  GaT7 22:01 11 Jan 2011

I would go for the new Acer over the refurbished Dell.

Yes, the i3 CPU is better of the two, but you won't really be able to tell the difference for your usage. G

No problem, hope it serves your needs well & you have many years of trouble-free computing on it.

If you ever have to recover or reinstall the OS keep these tips handy for the future:

If you have Acer eRecovery included, use this guide to create a recovery disc

And finally you may also ask: 'Why are there two hard disk drives, ACER (C:) and ACERDATA (D:), on my computer?'
