hi is the following quite a fast pentium at the moment?

Yes is the short answer.

A more detailed answer is that it is close to top of the range and performance will depend on what it is being used for and in conjunction with what other hardware.

It's one step above mine and is one of the faster single-core models. All the 600 series have 2MB level 2 caches. 500s have a 1MB cache. I think the dual-core models are 800s, while 700's are Pentium Ms.
