When I left the industry in the UK, in 1986, we were marketing graphics terminals (no computer included - except for doing the graphics work) - for use in CAD/CAM and related applications - with much less power than this, and priced from $25,000 to $60,000.

Puts it into a sort of perspective that they're even within reach of a home user now.

Wasn't that long ago 256Mb RAM in your PC was quite a bit either! Let alone built onto the Graphics card...

pay less for 256mb now than I once paid for 256k for my gfx card. back when trident cards came with an extra empty socket to put extra mem chips into.
