I intend to get a external Hard drive for my PC to back up files, pics and vids.
What is the difference between a media storage device and a normal hard drive ??
If I had to get one what would it be ?
regards

Get a regular external hard drive - about £70 for 500gb or £100 for 1TB

That, and a regular backup routine will see you safe.

i THINK, there often isnt a diference. That is, a media storage device is only that - storage, unless you put media playing software on it, in which case it could be used as, say, a music server. there are some devices out there with all the software already loaded, some without.

As Diodorus Siculus says tho, if you just want to back things up, a plain external hdd will do.
