economical document printer advice

My friend has asked me to find him a cheap, economical printer mainly for printing documents. £100 is about the maximum.

He'll be using the printer a fair bit for his work and studies and doesn't want to be crippled by the price of consumables.

With this in mind I've been looking at mono-lasers but am open to ideas.

The Samsung ML-1915 and SCX-4600 look very good from the reviews here but the toner seems fairly expensive. Does anyone know if you can buy compatibles?

The Brother mono-lasers also look interesting.

Any advice/ideas is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I bought one and I like it. I intend to refill the toner cartridge myself.

Bought a cheap Epsom Sylus D92 (inkjet) printer.
Buying cartridges from Pc Arena; click here

Also found on ebay as a power seller with more options of buying individual cartridges.

Thanks for the replies.

Is laser definitely the way to go?

John, how do you find the maintenance costs? How much cheaper is refilling?

What are people's opinions on the Samsung SCX-4600 and the Brother DCP-7030?

All help much appreciated.
