Dell Solution problem

  Queensferry 20:44 02 May 2006

My PC is a Dell Dimension 4100 and runs on Millennium Version 4.90.3000 Build 3000. System Model XPS-Z.
I have a problem when I wish to defragment my hard disc. My computer is halted and a Norton Anti Virus message appears when I go into Dell Solution Centre to try and solve the problem myself. The message reads as follows:
Norton Anti Virus High Risk. Malicious Script Detected. Your computer is halted and needs to do something about this scrips:
Object: Filesystem object
Astivity: Get special folder
File: helpctr.exe.
Has anyone else had this problem?

You should always disable your AV before a defrag.

Why Jackcoms? I've never had to do this with any of the PCs I've ever seen including my own. I've never heard that you should disable your AV before a defrag.
