hope someone can help
i'm a student so i only need a pc for standard applications, word, excel, writing to cd and internet access etc.
i want to run xp as i have office 2003 pro, does anyone have an idea how cheaply i could build a system (and is it easy)
ive seen the offers in pc world which seem the cheapest on the high street.

hope someone has some advice

many thanks

you'll get more for your money with an off the shelf offer.

As JonnyTub says, prices are so cheap now its not really worth building your own. You will also (hopefully) know that all components will work together. XP Home itself will cost you about £160.00

this one here seems ample for the tasks you have in mind and is less than £300 click here you'll need to add a cd-rw or better still a dvd-rw both can be had for less than £50. Happy hunting
