After another failed slide phone I was looking for good solid handset and was chatting to a sales assistant in the local Carphone. No attempts to try and push a contract and happily discussed the pro's and cons of the handsets I was interested in. The same lady quickly dealt with a handset (bought sometime last year) that I wanted repaired. One scan of the IMEI and she told me when I bought it and the fact I had no receipt didn't matter.Although getting a Sony E K550i repaired in "upto 4 weeks" is a bit long I don't mind because I bought a nice new Sony E W380i (although a flip phone it seems quite well made) for £79 unlocked.
Personally I buy cheap mobiles, which seem to work perfect for my requirements. If they go wrong (never had any problems yet), I would just bin or charity recycle them.
