Canon Ixus

Hi, been impressed with the reviews for the Canon Ixus 55. What do people think about this camera, it retails at £220, anyone know where it is cheaper? I want good quality pics and battery life. I have a coolpix 3100 and the battery life is awful. Any recommendations?

Unless you are really after the looks and size I suggest you'll get much better performance from the larger Canons. Try the A410, A510, A610, A620 according to your budget

I recently bought a ixus750 over the internet from pc world using their collect at store for £270, and after some humming and haring they also accepted a £25 off voucher for digital camareas from one of the old flyers which had no date on it!!!
Oh and by the way its superb!!!

Absolutely beautiful style icon whether in digital or film version - the range also produces superb photographs as befits a long established photographic equipment manufacturer.

My uncle has the IXUS 50. What a little gem it is.

You'll probably need to buy a bigger memory card and a spare battery (the camera comes with a battery charger BTW) but you'll then be equipped to handle almost anything. Ready-to-shoot time is pretty short (unlike some), the build quality and optical performance are excellent, and you can carry it around in your shirt pocket.

Buy one — you won't regret it.

I bought the ixus 2000 pix when it came out .I gave it to my son .and bought another make with higher pixels count ..but I had to go back to my great little ixus .so i i've bought the ixus 500 .the same looking camera ..solid as a rock ..after all. it is a good lense that makes a good camera .not how high the pixels are ..

by the way .I find a higher speed compact flash card )works well in the ixus ..for quicker recharge of picture taking . they are cheap enough ...

Shizzy, the 3100 model is awful, sometimes it goes after 6 pics :( and I changed the rechargables thinking it was that.
