Does anyone have any recommendations for a good base unit only (don't need a monitor for the mo), or sites you've spotted?

I was thinking along the lines of:
AMD Sempron 2800+ OR 64
120Gb HD
DVD-writer
512 MB RAM
Modem
shared memory graphics OK for starters

Thanks.

Their cheapest base unit is very nice, although it is £625.

See these recent reviews by PCA (Nov 2005 issue) click here.

All are £499, but without the monitor & a few other bits they may meet your requirements.

Carrera, the winner of the 'Best Buy', have a System Quote facility, whereby you can enter your spec click here.

Watford (number 2), have a configurator click here.

NetHighStreet's (number 3) HOME System page click here (& scroll down), you can add/remove items & get an instant price quote.

Also, have a look at Sempron systems on eBay. Most new ones come with a 1-year RTB click here. You can also use the Desktop PCs Finder
on the left (of the above link) - you don't have to limit your search to Semprons only. Good luck with the purchase. G

Thanks Crossbow7, and others - some good links :-)

By the way, on "configuring" a PC:

what's the difference between a mini and a midi tower?

Does broadband require an extra phone line? If a PC is broadband ready, I guess I should get a 56K modem as well?

I guess 350W PSU if for powerful graphics card(?)

Only 256 RAM, but otherwise meets your specs... and much change from £400!!
