The Best MP3 Players?

Don't know too much about MP3 players apart from the fact you can download/upload mp3 files to them.

I'm looking for a good mp3 player that's small, lightweight, can hold a decent number of hours worth of music and has any other little bits that are useful that i'm not aware of! Not asking for much i know!

Anyway - does anyone have any recommendations?

I've just bought an IRiver IFP 180 - very small, very good-looking, very nice.

128 Mb. (non-upgradeable)
Built in FM tuner and voice recorder
Upgradeble firmware
Very good sound quality.

Highly recomended apart from the price (£170)

Some of the very small players can be a bit gimmicky.

Amazon has a good range to choose from and some good prices.

Also some good reviews ( over 200) on

Try not to look at the US prices though - it's very annoying.

if you want more music go for a mp3/cd player
which can hold ip to ten full albums on one
cd/r .if you want lightweight go for something
like a freecom beatman which has 64mb built
in but will also take a smart media card
of which you could have an extra 128mb

I bought Philips Expanium MP3 players for just about everyone in the family this Christmas half price (£50 ish) from Amazon. Amazingly good - I'm a newcomer to the merits of MP3 but I certainly won't be tempted by K-z-a or anything similar. I'm collecting loads of stuff from the BBC, especially Radio 7 to enjoy at leisure.

My son bought me a Bench mp3 CD player from Lidl - holds about 150 tracks on one CD. I know it cost £35 coz it was me who dropped the hint. The headphones are useless but it sounds great with my big cans.
