AOL Broadband

I recently received an unsolicited email from AOL, informing me that they would increase my DL speeds to “up to 2g” over the next couple of months. I need do nothing.

I have not seen any increase. In fact in the first month (Sept06) I was getting approx 750Kbs, now it is under 477Kbs.

Was this mail genuine?
Has anyone received the promised increase?
Is 477Kbs acceptable from a contracted “up to 1G” connection?

AOL have increased their Silver package from 1Mbps to 2MBps. click here

So it is most probable the email you got from them was genuine.

When you were on the 1meg service 750K was probably acceptable. If you have been upgraded to the 2meg and are only getting 477K then I would contact AOL and explain the problem.

Hi bremner
I doubt anything has changed in the past five months, except my connection dropping the initial speed.
I probably should wait a month to see if it improves before complaining.
Have you seen a change since you were informed of the increase?

I had a similar email from them. Over the next 6 months my speed will increase also. Just have to wait and see how long it takes.

AOL did this a while back,
they increased the speed of silver from 512KB to 1MB.

I to got the e-mail from aol and if ats anything like the last increase we will all have a long wait until the increase kicks in.

Agree with wolfie3000, maybe get the "free" upgrade about July.
