Will an iMac Lion HD boot a Mac Pro 2008?

I have a Avid Pro Tools HD music production rig which I want to run on a Lion OS. So I bought a used Mac Pro 2008 3.1 which already has an SSD with High Sierra. I will use this OS for browsing the internet etc

So I have a blank 240GB SSD that I intended to install Lion on. Not been able to do it.

So I have found an iMac HD with a fresh Lion on it on Ebay, thing is its an iMac HD and I'm not sure whether the Mac Pro will boot it

Anybody Know if an iMac Lion HD will boot a Mac Pro 3.1 2008 ??

The problem, as I see it, is that the copy of Lion on the HD you have salvaged contains everything it needs to boot an ancient iMac. Whether it will contain sufficient drivers etc to boot your Mac Pro is a different matter. However I see no problem in connecting it to your Pro to see what happens.

Good luck!
