Why no Microsoft Access for Macs

Can anyone please tell me why there is no version of MS Access available to run on a Mac.

I'm not talking about running it via Parallels or some other virtualisation software, but a full-blown Mac version like word, Excel, Powerpoint which have specific Mac versions.

Is this some kind of conspiracy to force us to buy Apple's own database, Filemanager, or to force us to use virtualisation software.

Come on Microsoft and Apple, give us the low-down.

I have no idea why this is the case, but I have found that Base does the job really well.
