Thinking of buying an iMac, any comments?

  Sapins 16:41 14 Jun 2012

I have been looking at the iMac 21.5" A couple of questions, is there any real advantage to go for the 2.7ghz one and does 8GB of ram give any advantage? I don't want to play games, just access the web, e-mails and use Skype.

Any comments/tips etc: welcome.

iMacs of that size and sophistication start around £1000 - if all you want to do is access the web, email and Skype you can do that for much less than half that price. If you want to stick with Apple then why not buy an iPad for £399 from Tesco? Or there is a whole slew of all in one PCs with large monitors Click Here

To answer your question - No to the processor and no to the Ram unless you are going to render lots of video.

Have had iMacs for last 6 years and it is by far the best machines I have had at home - only bettered by the Mac Pro's at work.

Just watching a bit on the TV where it says that a new download of Mountain lion will be introduced next month for Mac's.Now not sure if it is a new operating system or not but looked quite good for $19.99.

Mountain Lion is the new O/S 10.8 replacing Lion 10.7

Somehow I can't see Microsoft releasing it's new Windows 8 at that price!!

Anyone purchased a new Mac on or after 11 June qualifies for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion.
