Restore from back up on new MacBook Pro

My 2014 MacBook Pro died last week, thankfully I have a back up. I have ordered the new MacBook Pro, but I could only afford to shell out for the 250gb version. My old MacBook Pro was 500gb and was pretty much full, is there a way I can restore selectively from my hard drive when my new MacBook arrives? Does anybody have some advice ? Also since my MacBook died I have been editing my Apple Music on my phone (adding / creating playlists , adding new albums). Will this be reflected when I sign in to Apple Music on my new MacBook Pro? Thanks Jim

On your new MacBook go to Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant and have a look at the Help - you should be able to select exactly what to want to migrate to the new machine
