Problems installing Win10 on mac

I am having issues

I've downloaded Win10 from Microsoft (stored in my Downloads folder) and am trying to run Boot Camp Assistant to install.

Initially i get the error

The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.

If I click Ok, it goes away and i'm left with the choice to

Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk

I again click continue

It then selects my ISO file and the 8Gb USB I have plugged in

The drive will be erased, etc

Formatting selected drive.......Copying Windows files

It gets half way along the progress bar, then does nothing

Is this something to do with the initial error??

Help please?

I use Parallels Desktop. No issues with that and it has the added advantage that you can switch between windows and Mac OSX with a couple of key-strokes or even run Windows in a window right on your desktop
