Problem with Mac Mail since installing Word

  John Morton 19:27 08 Aug 2019

I installed Microsoft Word and received a message, for the first time ever, telling me that the program needed keychain access and asking for the password. I know nothing of this password, I didn't set one up nor was I advised of its existence when I bought the mac (27" iMac Mojave 10.14.4). I tried my Mac ID password and the password I use for program upgrades but they don't work. Mac mail now also asks for a password even though I have never used a password for emails. I can access my emails from the service provider but THAT password doesn't work when I'm prompted for the password by Mac Mail. Life really shouldn't be like this. Please advise, John Morton (Mac user since 1989).

Update: I checked email preferences and I knew that there was no password shown because I had never used one. So I inserted the service provider email login password and everything works now. I have ditched Word now that the new Mac Pages has the new features I needed so everything is OK except that I am still curious to know why installing Word caused so many problems, not only with the keychain access but with Mac Mail.

A link to Lexmark has appeared in my last post. Not guilty.
