password issues on MacBook Pro after migration

  RGH 21:33 03 Aug 2018

I recently upgraded my 2011 MacBook Pro to a 2014 MacBook Pro. Migrated about 90G of stuff. The pass word I used on the old book no longer will open the newer one, altho' the hint reminder shows up on the new book. Is there a fix? Thx in advance

Did the 2014 MB Pro already have a password and do you know what it was? If not, try the password for your Apple ID, which is a Mac's default password if you haven't set one.

The vendor indicated it was a "clean" machine. I'll try the fix you suggest. Both books are using the same OS, High Sierra 10.13.6. In earlier OS versions there was a single user fix to this issue, does it work with this OS. Thx for your response, will try it.
