New macBook pro networked without my knowledge?

Hi, When I look at 'Finder' and under 'Shared' I am told that my new laptop is networked with a PC. It then reveals that we are disconnected. Is there something amiss here?

Go to the System Preferences and click on Sharing. In the list on the left click on 'File Sharing' then there is a little button on the top right called 'options'. In the drop-down that appears check that SMB sharing is un-ticked.

You might also untick printer sharing.

See if that helps.

Many thanks for your reply. Both 'Files' and 'Printer' were un-ticked but I ticked and un-ticked them again. This seemed to remove the 'Shared" notification. Presumably some glitch. If my computer had been hijacked I doubt they would have been careless enough to let it inform me! Thanks again.
