Motherboard and CPU compatible with an EMACHINE

  jkins 18:51 04 Jan 2006

I am relativly new with computers and was wondering what brand of motherboard/CPU would be compatible with my emachines system. My old motherboard/CPU crapped out and instead of buying a whole new system I would like to just use the existing equipment. Any advice would help. Thanks Josh

This is a how long is a piece of string query.

The particular e-Machine model you have and what particular motherboard and CPU it had will reveal quite a bit.

Unfortunatly I dont know what type of motherboard it is and wouldn't even know what to look for to identify it. As for the model of emachines: eMachines T2984 Desktop PC (2.93 GHz Celeron D 340, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, CD-RW Drive)
Hope that helps.

It's not that old...:-)

So you would need a motherboard that accepts FC-PGA478 chipset CPUs (Intel adds a list of suitable models) if you wish to remain with the particular mobo and CPU setup.
