Machine Rebooting when playing games

  Mercury007 21:29 12 Oct 2004

I am getting this same problem while playing a game (this may be any type of game). A blue screen is shown with the following details: STOP:0X0000009C (0X0000001, 0X8054DA70, 0XB2000000, 0X00000115) and then I have to restart.

As soon as I restart and windows is loaded I get the error details: BCCode:9c BCP1:0000001 BCP2:0X8054DA70 BCP3:B2000000 BCP4:00000115 OSVer:5_1_2600 SP:2_0 Product:256_1

This is a headache and I posted the error to Microsoft and read something about it but I do not know how I am going to get rid of it!

Please help me, 10x.

What is your machine spec's?

I may be able to help just need to know what specification your machine is..

  Mercury007 22:43 12 Oct 2004

Here are my machine specs:

P3 800Mhz
16Mb NVidia Vanta AGP Graphics Card
5.1 Live Surround Sound
Windows XP SP2
40Gb Hard Disk

This problem happened even when I had Win XP and Win XP SP1.

0x0000009c (0x00000000, 0x8054da70, 0xc427c000, 0x00000136) <- was the error i got.

What i had to do is tweak around in the Bios and i upped my voltage from 1.5 to 1.55.

Is the machine overclocked at all?

The other thing is to go to Administrative tools in control panel event viewer and then system. What does that part of the log say?

Similar error again refeering to the set up click here

It certainly seems that hardware based problem..

Not quite related but it again gives you a slightly better idea of what the error could be caused by.

Sounds like a driver issue, do a clean uninstall of your graphics card driver and then reinstall.

I've checked the error in the event viewer administrative tools and copied some info. This was displayed.

PLEASE HELP ME, This flip is crazy!

I am not sure about this but could it be that when you are putting extra workload on your processor or graphics card by playing games that it/they are overheating, causing this error. Are all your fans working correctly and heatsinks fitted right?

  Mercury007 22:15 17 Oct 2004

I've checked the temperature of the CPU and it never goes over 78 degrees C so that's pretty normal. I've spoken to a technician and he's thinking that the Nvidia VANTA is causing this error as it is now a bit old and outdated and it could be overheating trying to deliver the output of the newer games.

In the coming days I will upgrade to a new VGA card to try to get rid of this and be able to play the newest games, I also hope my pc will last longer. :)

My current setup is shown above in this thread and I am willing to spend up to 84 pound sterling. What graphics card would suit me the best?

Before upgrading the graphics (do not buy a top end card it will be held back by the rest of the system.Look for something like a Geforce4 4200TI)
Try removing the side panel and run a fan on the pc. If it doesnt crash then it is overheating components eg. graphics, cpu, ram, northbride.
78 deg C is hot for the cpu you have. I have not seen a P3 chip at this temp.

Try reseating the cpu/heatsink with a new application of thermal paste. Check fan is working correctly.
