Finding laptop's MAC number

  Pineman100 11:53 08 Jul 2007

I'm just addingmy wife's new Vista Premium laptop to our wireless network. I need to tell the router what it's MAC number is in order for it pass through the router's MAC filtering procedure.

Anyone know how I find the MAC number of the laptop's wireless network card please? I do hope I haven't got to open the thing up!

Open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all"
Look for "Physical Address" and you will have your MAC address.

Much obliged, irishrapter. I'll give it a go as soon as the interminable recovery disk creation process has finished.

I do wish suppliers would still give you your OS and driver CD's with the machine!

I hope that the Mac filtering is not the only form of security that you are using!!
