From my experienne, a PC DVD drive will usually play any region DVD.

A DVD player needs to be multi-region (or region-free) in order to play any region DVD.

I've also heard that DVDs (i.e. the discs) with no region are usually fakes. G

P.S. some info click here

Many music DVDs are zone free.

Both of my disc drives on my pc (CD RW/DVD player & DVD RW) are set to Zone 2 (Euope). However, if I place a zone 1 disc (USA) in then I get SIX chances to change the zone setting from 1 to 2 before it stops. Therefore I have nos set my CD/DVD to Zone 1 and my DVD RW to Zone 2.

I'm thinking merseyman wants to know which type of writable DVD work in any machine.

The most suitable media for use in DVD players for watching films is DVD-R.

Many modern DVD players will also read the DVD+R format, but it isn't guaranteed.

Then the thing to appreciate is that a BURNED DVD has to be finalized.

i have a region free pc dvd drive that plays all dvds, every sort,

if your question was dvd+-RW/R

then i find what alan14 says to be true
DVD-R is the safest, i prefer DVD+R, and they will play on most
DVD+-RW are more picky, and expensive

yeah, finalising is crucial for any for standard standalone dvd players
