apple airport to other hardware

just got a g4 powerbook and want to know if i can use any wi fi router with it or do i have to go the airport way.
i will be connecting to a windows home network

Not sure what you mean here.

If you want to connect to a WiFi network then you'll need an Airport in your laptop (whether seperate or built-in).

The Airport can then connect to any router for Internet access and files can be shared accross the network (relatively) easily.

The airport card in your G4 will connect to any router you like - it's brilliant, actually, just finds the network without you having to fiddle with it, and away you go.
