250 GB missing from Mac Mini

My Mac Mini should have 500 GB of storage space, but it says in "About this Mac" that there are only 250. My partition window in disk utility looks weird, and if I try to partition anything I get the error message "Operation failed." Anyone know how to fix this? I've even done a complete reset of the computer and the problem persisted.

In Disk Utility click on View icon arrow and select Show all Devices.

Then post the screen shot.
