Getting the news on your laptop screen is fairly easy with all the RSS feeders and, of course, websites out there, but there are some really interesting Windows 8 apps that allow you to get the news in a slightly different way.

The Telegraph app brings you all the high quality journalism you’d expect from the print and web editions of the newspaper, but the software has been made to complement Windows 8's touchscreen interface.

All the news from the day is displayed on live tiles and there is a good chunk of content available completely for free. You can subscribe to The Telegraph to get the full experiencev - to get the full story simply click or tap on the relevant live tile and you get all the text and images with an option to view any images as a full-screen slideshow.

The Telegraph app is compatible with the Share charm too so if there’s something that you want to let friends and Twitter followers know about it’s a simple click to post a tweet or share via email.

With access to the best news and sports as well as popular columnists the Telegraph application is a great informational tool, even without a subscription you get plenty of content for very little. As well as this the application looks great in Window 8 and makes getting to the stories you want to read really easy.
