Apple iPad Mini

Apple's iPad Mini is set to launch on 23 October in a total of 16 different models. See also iPad mini launch: live.

It was originally thought that Apple would announce the iPad Mini this week on 17 October. However, no invitations to such an event surfaced and the new date for the launch is now 23 October. See also: iPad Mini price in UK.

If the date is correct then is places the iPad Mini event just days before Microsoft will launch Windows 8 and its Surface tablet which is a rival to the existing iPad.

New information has appeared on the different models of iPad Mini which will be available. According to an inventory screenshot posted by MobileGeeks, the tablet will come in 16 different options. The iPad Mini price ranges from €249 to €649, according to the inventory.

To start with, there are four different storage options: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. These are available in black or white with Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and cellular date totalling 16 combinations. The image doesn't confirm whether the cellular data is 3G or 4G but we assume it will be the latter.

Apple has supposedly ordered 10 million units of the iPad Mini to be made this quarter. The 7.85in iPad Mini will take on big name devices like Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire.
