Lexmark has joined forces with travel itinerary website TripIt to make it easy for web users to print all the paperwork they need for a business trip or holiday.

The pair have launched TripIt SmartSolutions, an app for Lexmark's Platinum, Pinnacle, Prestige and Interact web-connected all-in-one (AIO) printers.

Users simply download the app to the printer and can then see a list of upcoming trips on the printer's touchscreen. These trips can then be selected and the itineraries and paperwork, such as flight and hotel details, can be printed - without the need to log onto the TripIt website via a PC.

"Lexmark's touch screen AIOs are designed to help customers be more efficient and simplify their business processes," said Paul Rooke from Lexmark.

"The new TripIt SmartSolution enables travellers to quickly access and print their travel itineraries, saving them time and getting the most out of their Lexmark investment."

Web users can create a free TripIt account and then forwarding their flight, hotel or additional travel confirmation emails to [email protected], no matter where they book.

TripIt automatically compiles this information and creates a master itinerary, complete with maps, directions, weather and whatever the traveller needs for their trip

"While TripIt connects to mobile apps and social networks, those services aren't always available, so the TripIt SmartSolution turns the office printer into a virtual travel assistant, helping travellers stay on schedule," added Gregg Brockway, TripIt co-founder

The TripIt SmartSolution app can be downloaded now for free from Lexmark's dedicated web page. Users can also download a number of other SmartSolutions, which are designed to increase productivity and make users more efficient.

Apps include Business Card Scanning software and Scan to Evernote that lets users scan documents and send them straight to their Evernote account.
