PCCW Global and Huawei today launched their new global high definition (HD) video communications showcase center in Hong Kong.
Located at Telecom House in Wanchai, the new Global High Definition Video Communications Center showcases a wide range of HD calling, conferencing, and collaboration solutions. These solutions are available on multiple devices, including telepresence rooms, conferencing terminals, tablets, and smartphones.
The two companies have jointly built a cloud-based HDVC platform, offering service providers and multinational enterprises "cost-effective deployment of high quality video collaboration services."
In addition, PCCW Global provides a point-to-point cross-private global network video calling service. Using the service, an employee can dial the number of another video user either within or outside their own organization, locally or abroad, and connect in HD without needing to pre-set time or arrange a conference bridge.
Global reach of 130+ countries
To ensure a global reach for HDVC, PCCW Global uses its fully managed network to provide a fully interoperable multipoint video conferencing and video calling experience between, and among, users spanning over 130 countries around the globe.
"We [Huawei and PCCW Global] are excited to explore new innovations in the video collaboration field together and to help our customers cost-effectively maximize the impact of HD video," said Marc Halbfinger, CEO of PCCW Global.
"The opening of the Global High Definition Video Communications Center is a key milestone for all carriers and enterprises to leverage on the opportunities offered by HDVC with a global reach whatever the device and whatever the access," said Mao Yumin, Vice President for Huawei Core Network Product Line.
