The Australian Traffic Network has signed Invigor to develop a new traffic app to enable a safer driving experience for Australians.

The contract has been awarded to the ASX-listed IT solutions firm to build the new app which will have a Big Data component.

It is being commissioned by the Australian Traffic Network, which is part of the Global Traffic Network.

Invigor Group specialises in innovative business intelligence and big data solutions which are supported by strategic consulting, development and marketing services.

ATN executive chairman, Gary Cohen, said the app would deliver an enhanced driving experience to all Australians giving more advanced routing based on traffic flow and traffic incidents.

"The app is all about promoting safer driving by alerting drivers to areas such as school zones and major traffic delays and accidents," he said. "We are pleased to have entered into this significant arrangement with ATN.

"Development of the application will assist ATN to use data to deliver business intelligence and insights for its activities."

According to a company statement, the contract further enhances Invigor Digital Solutions as a leading provider of business intelligence products assisting companies better analyse their performance and customer needs. The Australian Traffic Network provides up to date traffic reports which can be heard on numerous media affiliates across the country which include Austereo, DMG, Network Ten, The Nine Network and The Seven Network.
