Vietnamese mobile users are well informed and they surf the web to stay updated, according to Opera's State of the Mobile Web report.

Findings of the report indicate a significant increase of Opera Mini user base on smartphones in Vietnam during the past year.

Opera recorded a 142 percent increase since July 2012 and attributes the growth to the nation's recent 3G deployment, affordable data plans and budget smartphones.

Android is the second-largest platform among Opera Mini users in Vietnam and it experienced a 211 percent increase in the number of Opera Mini users during the past year.

Opera Mini users on Android in Vietnam browse more web pages and consume more data as compared to other Opera Mini users. The number of pages viewed was found to be 63 percent higher on Android than other platforms.

Visit information sites

Twenty-one out of the top 100 websites visited by Opera Mini users on Android were news and information sites in Vietnam. This accounted for 27 percent of the total Opera Mini data consumption on Android.

About 69 percent of Vietnamese visit social networking sites but four out of every five pages viewed occur on Facebook.

More than 50 percent of Vietnamese Opera Mini users on Android visited entertainment news and lifestyle sites during July 2013.

Two websites called and, focusing on lifestyle in Vietnam, experienced 56 percent and 208 percent growth in the number of unique users visiting their sites with Opera Mini.

While Samsung is the most popular Android phone brand for Vietnamese Opera Mini users, six out of the top 20 popular Android phones owned by Opera Mini users in Vietnam have dual SIM cards.
