Samsung Galaxy S4 TouchWiz interface

More leaked screenshots of Samsung's Galaxy S4 smartphone show a new TouchWiz user interface. Check out our Samsung Galaxy S4 launch: live coverage.

The leaked images show a number of different screens claiming to be the latest TouchWiz UI of the Samsung Galaxy S4. GSM Israel published the images which show a US model based on the AT&T 4G logo at the top.

As you can see, the interface is recognisable as Samsung's TouchWiz and doesn't really look much different to that of the Galaxy S3's. The main difference we can see is the partly transparent notification bar at the top. There's also a logo indicating that NFC is on-board. The settings menu is more heavily tweaked with tabbed sections for connections, my device, accounts and more. GSM Israel says the Galaxy S4 smartphone used for the screenshots was running Android 4.2.1 but will probably ship with 4.2.2.

One image, of the Smart Screen settings, is almost identical to one leaked yesterday confirming the rumoured Smart Scroll and Smart Pause eye tracking features. However, the screen has a white rather than black background. See also: Samsung releases Galaxy S4 teaser video.

There's more endorsement of a Full HD 1080 x 1920 screen with a 5in screen, although here it says 5.01in compared to the previously rumoured 4.99. What we are miffed about is the pixel density of 480ppi which, if you crunch the numbers, should be saying around 441ppi like the Sony Xperia Z. The X and Y figures are closer to this value, though.

A screenshot of the camera interface is yet further confirmation of the Galaxy S4 sporting a 13Mp rear facing camera. The software also shows controls for burst shot, face detection, metering, ISO and anti-shake.

The site maintains the shots came from a very reliable source and straight from the Galaxy S4 itself, but it's best to take leaks like this with at least a small pinch of salt.

Samsung will announce the Galaxy S4 in exactly a week on 14 March in New York. We'll be covering it as it happens to be sure to join us for the Galaxy S4 specs, price and release date news.
