Nokia Zoom Reinvented EOS launch

Nokia is thought to be introducing the Lumia EOS PureView smartphone at an event on 11 July.

Invitations have been sent out for the event on 11 July which will take place in New York. Since the shindig has been given the title 'Zoom Reinvented', it's widely agreed in the media that this will mean the arrival of the rumoured Lumia EOS PureView smartphone. This is the most likely scenario so unless Nokia is being particularly sneaky, that's what we expect to see in just under a month's time.

According to the recent leaks, the Lumia EOS PureView (if that what it's actual name is), will feature a 41Mp camera with a Carl Zeiss lens. It will be a Windows Phone 8 version of the Nokia 808 PureView which ran on Symbian.

Beyond a large amount of pixel, we expect the camera to offer features such as optical image stabilisation (OIS) and possibly a floating lens. Who knows what else Nokia has up its sleeve on this front.

The photos of the EOS device suggest the handset will look pretty similar to the existing Nokia Lumia 920, but with a huge camera strapped onto the back. It's not half as bad as the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom – although that offers optical zoom.
