New 2014 Motorola Moto G specs
Available in black and white, the brand-new Motorola Moto G comes with dual-SIM capability as standard (also see: Best dual-SIM smartphones 2014). It runs Android KitKat 4.4, and Motorola guarantees an update to Android L.
This 149g, 141.5x70.7x6-11mm budget smartphone from Motorola features a tapered frame, just like the Motorola Moto X; except here the chassis is plastic, not aluminium. Also see: Best budget smartphones 2014.
The new-for-2014 Moto G hides the same 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and Adreno 305 graphics under a larger 5in HD (720p, 294ppi) IPS display. The original Moto G had a 4.5in, 329ppi screen. Also see: Best Android phones 2014.
As before, the Motorola Moto G is available with 8- or 16GB of internal storage, plus there's now support for microSD up to 32GB.
At the back of the Moto G is an improved 8Mp (up from 5Mp) f2.0 camera with autofocus. The front camera has also seen an upgrade, from 1.3- to 2Mp.
One last improvement over the original Moto G is the 2014 model's speakers - two 12x15x3mm speakers are now found at the front of the phone, rather than the single 12x17x3.65mm version previously found at the rear.
Motorola isn't the only manufacturer launching great-value smartphones at IFA. Also check out the Nokia Lumia 830 - the affordable flagship Windows Phone.
