As well as being a very handy way to work out how to find an address in the middle of the city, Google Street View can also provide its fair share of entertainment. As the Google image recording vans roam the land, they can sometimes capture moments that are bizarre, hilarious or just plain confusing.
Sadly, Google has also blurred out some of the old, classic Google Street View hoaxes and staged photos, including one that apparently showed a baby being born on the street (it was confirmed as a fake) and a pair of Final Fantasy warriors battling with swords in Pittsburgh.
Here’s our selection of the best views from the streets.
1. Naughty Google
If you're going to break the speed limit, the last thing you want to do is take a photo of yourself doing so and publish it to the web. Oops, Google!
2. Privacy-conscious cow
We love cows, and we respect their, erm, bovine rights. But we'd be pretty surprised if they had beef about being caught on Google's Street View camera. Google clearly thinks differently, blurring this animal's face so it couldn't be recognised.
3. Close-up Cat
Curiosity can do strange things to cats, but at least this Argentinian feline got away with just world-fame rather than anything terminal.
4. The Batcave
From the movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, here's the set used for the Batcave. Now you can plan your strategy against the Joker while Alfred pours the tea, all from the comfort of your tablet or smartphone
This guy seems to be all over Google Street View. Here he is walking along in Italy. (Click photos to enlarge)
6. Happy murderer
This pair of pranksters faked a murder in Edinburgh. His happy face was a bit of a giveaway but we think it's a great effort!
7. Stunning painting
This brilliant artist was captured finishing off his latest piece in London's Hyde Park.
8. Happy couple
This couple were captured riding in a very pink horse and carriage on their wedding day.
A full rainbow was captured on Google Street View near Dartmoor National Park here in the UK.
10. Yoga lady
Another image that gave us a chuckle is of this lady doing some yoga on the beautiful Whistable coast. Not something you see every day on Google Street View.
The Google Street View car driver is captured giving the camera a clean on the Isle of Man.
12. Highland accident
It looks like it's going to be tricky to get this car out from this ditch up in Scotland.
13. Penguin riding a Penny Farthing
Among our favourites and definitely one of the strangest Google Street Views we've seen is this Penguin riding on the back of a Penny Farthing bike.
14. Scarecrow field
This one gave us a bit of a fright, as it looks like a field filled with lots of creepy people. It's actually lots of creepy scarecrows instead. Strange!
15. Diagon Alley
Harry Potter fans can take a trip through Diagon Alley on Google Street View, thanks to photos captured of the Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesdon.
16. Orange men
We're not sure what these two are up to but it's definitely strange!
17. The Tardis
Take a look inside Dr Who's Tardis by visiting the famous police box near Earls Court in London on Google Street View.
18. Fancy Dress Party
This group seems to be enjoying what we can only assume is a fancy dress party up in Scotland.
A huge bird approaches the Google Street View camera at an alarming rate in the Galapagos Islands.
These adorable Panda can be spotted at Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China.
21. Horrifying Pigeons
These pigeons will give you a fright as you virtually stroll along the streets in Japan. Wander past them and turn around... they're still looking. So creepy.
22. Stockholm Syndrome
These Swedes are throwing some excellent shade on the Google Street View camera car.
23. Iceland Tea
It can get a bit chilly in Iceland, so if you're going to have a spot of tea and cake then you'd best dress up warm.
24. Sleighing it
Where we're going, we don't need roads. Just a pack of dogs.
25. Russian UFO
We don't know what this is, but all we can say is that we welcome our new floating overlords.
Jon Rafman has an incredible selection of Google Street View images, and Google Street View.com has a brilliant map of the world filled with links that'll take you directly to the relevant Google Street View location.
You'll find funny sights, strange sights and absolutely stunning sights there, but be warned: it's addictive!
