Coming this November, Tekken Hybrid is a Blu-Ray pack for PlayStation 3 that includes a 3D-compatible version of the upcoming Tekken: Blood Vengeance CG feature film and an HD, PS3 version of PS2 classic fighter Tekken Tag Tournament.
Tekken: Blood Vengeance will be shown for one night only in 375 theaters across America on July 26 before the Blu-Ray release in November. There'll also be a standalone DVD release. The movie follows the story of Xiaoyu Ling and her quest to infiltrate a school in Kyoto to gather information on the "mysterious student" Shin Kamiya. Before long, she finds herself up to her neck in Mishima Zaibatsu conspiracies. It all sounds terribly confusing but will probably mean something to Tekken fans -- and certainly can't be worse than the live-action Tekken movie.
The movie is written by Dai Sato (Ghost in the Shell: SAC and Cowboy Bebop) and the score written by Hitoshi Sakimoto (Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tekken 6). You can find out if there's a special showing near you on July 26 here.
The remake of Tekken Tag Tournament will be bundled with the Blu-Ray of Tekken: Blood Vengeance. It doesn't sound as if there will be any new features besides the increased resolution, but we may hear otherwise a little nearer to the pack's release.
"Tekken Tag Tournament is considered one of the best titles in the Tekken franchise, and one of the greatest fighting video games of all time," said Carlson Choi, VP of marketing for Namco Bandai in America. "We're thrilled to be bringing this property into HD for current generation gamers. Including the remake as part of Tekken Hybrid alongside Tekken Blood Vengeance 3D allows our passionate fans to immerse themselves in the storied histories of the Tekken characters on their path to the King of Iron Fist Tournament."
Tekken Hybrid is out this November.
