What is PlayStation TV?

PlayStation TV is a small micro-console box which has so far been available exclusively in Japan under the name 'PlayStation Vita TV'. Well it's coming to the US, Canada and Europe and allows gamers to play PS4 games on a second screen.

Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America said at E3: "This little gem will be able to pair with your PlayStation 4, allowing you to play your PS4 game, via Remote Play, on a second television in your home."

"It will give you access to video and music streaming services. It will give you the ability to play hundreds of PS3 titles, made available through PlayStation Now. And, of course, PlayStation TV will also play most Vita titles as well as PS1 and PSV classics." he added.

So, this little box does a number of things including the ability to play your PS4 through a different TV in the house and play older PlayStation games via the PlayStation Now streaming service. It will also rival devices and services such as Netflix, Apple TV, Roku and Google's Chromecast since it will add the ability to stream music, films and TV shows.
