Amazon is at last allowing its UK customers to gift eBooks to anyone they would like. This feature has been requested for almost a decade, but we’re glad it is finally here.

If you wish to purchase an eBook for someone else, you can simply head to the eBook section on Amazon, find your eBook of choice and select the ‘Buy for others’ option when you’re on the detail page.

For more information about this process, you can head over to this page on Amazon about Kindle eBook gifting, you can also take a look at our guide on which Kindle to buy.

eBooks can be read on any device that can use the free Kindle app, which is available on iOS, Android, Mac and PC or of course on Kindle e-readers.

The Kindle launched back in 2007 and sold out within five hours. The US has been able to gift Kindle eBooks for a long time now, and the feature has only just come to UK consumers. This has been a bit of a mystery up to this point, and considering the wall of silence that Amazon has been giving around the topic, looks like it will remain one for the foreseeable future.
