The Internet Player will bring access to the web via Google Chrome, YouTube and the Play Store to any TV – making it a 'Smart TV'.  Apple TV is now in its third generation and costs £99.

Sony's Google TV will come with a dual-sided remote control. It has a regular buttons and a touch pad on one side and a Qwerty keyboard on the reverse. There will also be a free app so smartphones and tablets can be used as remote controls.

"Entertainment content is available through so many channels and sites, and Google TV helps consumers easily find what they want to watch, listen or play with the freedom of the internet and using the familiar Chrome browser" added Pelliet.

As well as the NSZ-GS7, Sony will launch a Google TV-powered Blu-ray player called the NSZ-GP9. It will launch in the US in October followed by Canada, UK, France, Netherlands and Germany.
