It's summer movie time again, time for the movie studios to trot out blockbusters with explosions and all sorts of fun.

Here are our picks for the favourite movies that techies and geeks will be lining up for.

Iron Man 2 (out now)

At the end of 2008's Iron Man film, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) reveals to the world that he's Iron Man.

In this sequel, he faces pressure from the government to share the technology with the public, and faces new threats from a fellow arms dealer (Sam Rockwell) and villain Whiplash (Mickey Rourke).

Why geeks want to see it
Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Tony Stark is dead on from the comics universe; rumours of more Avengers-related material (Samuel Jackson's Nick Fury makes another appearance); continued high-tech weaponry (we love the Iron Man suit); and of course, Scarlett Johannson's Black Widow.

Robin Hood (May 14)

The latest adaptation of the Robin Hood story, this one stars Russell Crowe, whose Australian accent should make us all forget about Kevin Costner's accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves from 1991.

This one is directed by Ridley Scott, who directed Crowe in the Oscar-winning Gladiator, so we should expect lots of arrow-related violence.

Why geeks want to see it
Who wouldn't want to grab a bow an arrow, save the lovely Maid Marian against the corrupt Sherriff of Nottingham and bring hope to ancient England?

The fans who loved Lord of the Rings will flock to this film as well.
