Mac mini uses experiencing an issue that was causing flickering should soon receive a firmware update.

Users of the new Mac mini have taken to the Apple Discussion forums to complain about screen flickering issues and display blackouts that are experienced when the new Mac mini is plugged into a screen via the HDMI port.

The issue is thought to be connected to the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU inside the new Mac mini, and Intel has acknowledged the issue on a community message board, indicating that a fix is being worked on, according to IBTimes.

Apparently a similar problem exists with Windows and Linux machines that use Intel's HS 4000 graphics card. Intel has reportedly issued a fix for this issue.

However, Apple has to configure the driver before it can issue the update to Mac users. As the company says in the communities thread: "Your OEM (Apple) will provide the driver with the fix when they are done configuring our driver (that has the fix). An ETA on this is currently unknown."
