This time last week internet portal Yahoo released its pick of the best websites for 2002. So we decided to ask PC Advisor readers to let us know which were their favourite sites.

In our wholly unscientific survey we were miffed to find our own site pipped to the top post by the BBC's website BBCi. But perhaps you thought it went without saying that is the best thing on the internet today. We did come second after all.

Although BBCi was the clear winner, other sites that won your praise included: IT news site The Register; map site MultiMap and tech site Scan.

For those of you planning to take the plunge and go broadband ADSL Guide proved invaluable, with reader David Knell branding it "the best online guide to ADSL in the UK".

Travel sites were also extremely popular. Both The Lonely planet and This is Travel were commended for their helpfulness, while Holiday Truths, which promises to reveal the truth behind the brochures, warts and all, also received a mention.

There were also plenty of nominations for book enthusiasts such as Biblion and entertainment sites also proved popular, with being praised by James Grayston for providing "cheap music CDs, DVDs and video games with free shipping".

It's good to see that our readers are making the most of the internet. Make sure you keep us informed of any online discoveries in our Consumerwatch forum.
