iPhone 5S launch 10 September: 5 things we expect to see

1. iPhone 5S
It would be quite a shock if Apple didn't announce the iPhone 5S - not the iPhone 6. The device will be the follow-up to the iPhone 5 as a newer, faster model.

2. iOS 7
We would also be surprised if we don't see the launch of iOS 7 along with the new iPhone. Apple has already announced the new version of its mobile operating system and said that it will launch in the autumn.

3. More pixels
We fully anticipate Apple to have improved the screen technology on the iPhone 5S. Many flagship devices now have Full HD screens so Apple has some catching up to do. As for screen size, we think it unlikely things will change compared to the iPhone 5. (See also: iPhone 5C vs iPhone 5S comparison review: what's the difference between iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S?)

4. NFC and fingerprint scanner
Two new bits of tech which are likely to feature on the iPhone 5S are the adoption of NFC and a fingerprint scanner. It's about time the iPhone has an NFC chip and we expect to see some fruit from Apple's acquisition of security firm and fingerprint scanner specialist, AuthenTec.

5. iPhone 5C
Although Apple has traditionally only launched one iPhone at a time, we expect this year to break the habit. The iPhone 5C will be a new version for those on a cheaper budget. It will be made from plastic instead of aluminium.
