OPSWAT Security Score is a simple tool which can quickly scan your PC, then provides a score to show how secure it is (or isn't), and offers some advice on how you can further improve your system security.
Launch the program, and after a speedy scanning process (around 9 seconds on our test PC), the program will deliver a security score for your PC based on 7 key areas: Antivirus, Antiphishing, Backup, Patch Management, Hard Disk Encryption, Firewall and File Sharing.
Our test PC scored 88/100, for instance: not bad. But if you'd like to know how to improve things still further, then clicking an area where you haven't scored full marks will offer some advice.
We only scored 3/5 for "Public File Sharing", for example: why? A click told us that OPSWAT Security Score had detected a uTorrent installation, and the program was recommending we remove this. (Although whether you do so is your call, of course.)
And we scored a miserable 0/10 for "Hard Drive Encryption", as our system didn't have BitLocker Drive Encryption enabled.
OPSWAT Security Score isn't doing anything too special or smart, and experienced users will probably find the program doesn't tell them anything they don't know already. It could still be very useful for checking other people's systems, though - making sure that a laptop used by your kids is properly configured, for instance - and that's probably enough to justify the download.
While its advice is fairly basic, OPSWAT Security Score does provide a quick and easy way to check a PC for potential security holes
