Wise Plugin Manager is a free tool which allows you to view and manage all your browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera) from one place.

Launch the program and a sidebar lists the supported browser. Clicking one of these then displays your addons in the main part of the window (choose "Internet Explorer" and you'll see any custom context menu entries, too).

Wise Plugin Manager displays the name and a very brief description of each plugin. There may also be a rating provided by other users of the program, which could help you pick out what's useful and what isn't (although all we saw is that a few clearly vital addons - Adobe Reader, Shockwave - were scored highly).

If someone has given a rating or written a review of a plugin then you're able to view the details, and there's also an option to provide a score or add a review of your own.

Alternatively, if you've decided you don't need something then it can be removed in a couple of clicks. This works well enough, but the delete is a "per addon" operation: you have to go through the same process for everything you want to remove, there's no option to multi-select and wipe everything at once.

Version 1.27 changes:

  • Updated the digital signature.
  • Improved localization and language support.
  • Minor tweaks and fixes.

Wise Plugin Manager's review/ rating system might one day be a useful way to pick out unnecessary browser addons, but right now it doesn't tell you much. The program is free and easy to use, though, and its Opera support is a plus. If you'd like an easier way to review your browser extensions occasionally then it's a reasonable choice.
