AnyBurn is a lightweight disc burning tool, compact and portable, which still manages to include plenty of essential functionality.
You get the basics, of course, like the ability to create data discs (CD, DVD or Blu-ray), erase rewritable discs, maybe copy a disc. But you can also rip or create audio CDs from MP3, WMA, WAV, APE and FLAC files. And there are more disc image-related tools than you'll get in much larger packages, with the program able to create ISO or BIN/CUE images from discs, or files and folders; it can burn many more image formats to disc (ISO, BIN, ASHDISC, IMG, CDI, NRG, VCD and many more); and it can even convert more obscure IMG formats to ISO for easier use.
Each of these functions works exactly as you'd expect. Choose to create an audio CD or burn a data disc, say, and you can drag and drop the files you need, rearrange them as required, choose a few basic options (burning speed, whether you want to verify your data or finalize the disc) before creating your disc with a click.
Version 4.5 (full changelog) brings these improvements:
- Can create and convert image files from command line.
- Fixed USB drive detection bug when more than eight drives are connected.
- Improved boot compatibility when creating bootable USB drive.
- Some minor bug fixes and enhancements.
AnyBurn can't create video DVDs. It's free, portable, and seems to deliver the burning basics very well, though, and if that sounds appealing then we'd recommend you give it a try.
