With the school year taking off this month, it's a great time to begin a healthy and active routine – whether you're a student or a parent. There are some great deals on Fitbit activity trackers to keep you motivated! Fitness trackers are super popular, and that's a great sign that these health gadgets are more than just a fad you get bored with; they really work!

Fitbits will be the number one choice for many looking to get healthier, through exercise, sport, and better quality sleep.

Most Fitbit users keep their healthy promises longer thanks to the great mobile app and challenges with friends, colleagues and family. Fitbits have ruled the fitness tracker market for years, and the current tracker line-up is better than ever thanks to the introduction of the company’s first fully fledged smartwatches, the Versa and Ionic.

Newest Fitbit: Versa 2

The latest to join the Fitbit ranks is the Fitbit Versa 2 (£199.99/US$199.99), which comes with Amazon Alexa built-in, 24/7 heart rate tracking, and Sleep Score. The Special Edition Versa 2 (£219/$229) also includes a 3-month trial of Fibit Premium, the company's subscription-based health-tracking service. The Versa 2 is available to pre-order now and starts shipping 15 September.

Here's everything you need to know about the Versa 2. Also see our hands-on Versa 2 review and our comparison of the Versa to the Versa 2.

Hunting out the best Fitbit discounts

There are six activity trackers in Fitbit’s current range: Inspire, Inspire HR, Charge 3, Ace 2 (for children) and the Versa (with Lite and Special editions) and Ionic Fitbit smartwatches. You may also find older models heavily reduced. Their features vary significantly, as do their prices.

Fitbit has recently reduced the price of its top-range Fitbit Ionic by £30 to £249.99, down from £279.99. However, the cheapest we've seen the Fitbit Ionic smartwatch elsewhere is around £218 on Amazon, which is £32 off the usual retail price.

The Fitbit Versa (it lacks only the Ionic's built-in GPS but can connect to your phone's GPS) now has £45 off from Amazon.

The Charge 3 is also available with £11 off at Amazon and Currys, where it's £119. We also spotted the Special Edition Charge 3 – which comes with an NFC chip, so you’ll be able to use Fitbit Pay and leave your wallet at home – for £125, which is £24.99 off the retail price (available in Frost White or Lavender).

You can also find recently discontinued models such as the Flex 2, Alta, Alta HR, Charge 2, and Zip (clip-on) online – see below.

Fitbit has updated its tracker for kids, the Fitbit Ace. The Ace 2 (based on the Inspire) is now available for £69.99 at the Fitbit Store or around £63 from Amazon. You can also pick up the first-generation from Amazon for around £65.

On the Fitbit accessory side, the Aria 2 wireless scale that syncs with your Fitbit tracker and app are down to £97.99 at Scan. It typically costs £119.99.

Discontinued Fitbits offer great value

Consider just-discontinued models, too, for bargains. For example, the Charge 3 was released only in October 2018, so the Charge 2 is at the top of the bargains. The Charge 3 may be newer but the Charge 2 was our top-rated fitness tracker as recently as September 2018, so is well worth considering at a cut-price, and is available in a wide array of colours.

Amazon is offering the Lavender Rose Gold version of the Charge 2 for £94. The Charge 2 (regular edition) is also available at Amazon for £105.

The minimalist Flex 2 has also been discontinued on the Fitbit Store, but you can still find it on Carphone Warehouse, where it's expected to be in stock for £69.99.

The Inspire Fitbits have replaced the Alta and Alta HR models, so look out for bargains there, too. Right now the Alta HR is available for £71.15 from Scan and £73.72 from Amazon. The best deal we've seen on the Alta HR is £62.98 from eBuyer.
