AMD’s new RDNA 2-inspired Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs are now available to buy in the UK, bringing not only significant performance gains that compete with Nvidia’s RTX 3000 Series but ray-tracing technology too. It seems AMD is finally ready to compete at the high-end of the GPU market after taking the CPU market by storm in recent years.
But despite all the excitement around AMD’s new graphics cards, there are still questions around UK pricing and where you’ll be able to buy them at launch. Don’t worry - we cover all you need to know about buying the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series in the UK right here.
When will the AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series be released in the UK?
Much like the release of Nvidia’s recent GPU range, AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 Series launch was staggered over the course of a couple of weeks. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT launched on 18 November, followed by the high-end RX 6900 XT on 8 December 2020.
How much does the RX 6000 Series cost in the UK?
US pricing was announced at the reveal event, starting at $579 for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 and increasing to $649 for the RX 6800 XT and $999 for the RX 6900 XT. That’s fairly standard for a product launch – most tech companies announce US pricing on stage and confirm local pricing via press release. The odd thing is that, despite the GPUs going on sale today, AMD didn't confirm UK pricing until the GPUs went on sale and reviews went live.
As we now know, the prices in the UK are as follows:
- AMD Radeon RX 6800: £529.99
- AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT: £599.99
- AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT: £1099.99
However, prices could get more expensive in 2021 if recent predictions are to be believed. Posting in the Asus DIY PC Facebook group, Asus technical marketing manager Juan Jose Guerrero III claims that the MSRP for graphics cards and motherboards are set to increase.
"Our new MSRP reflects increases in cost for components. operating costs, and logistical activities plus a continuation of import tariffs. We worked closely with our supply and logistic partners to minimize price increases. ASUS greatly appreciates your continued business and support as we navigate through this time of unprecedented market change."
With that in mind, it might be smart to pick up a new GPU sooner rather than later - especially with a new cryptocurrency boom and stock shortages also contributing to the increase in price.
Where can I buy the AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series in the UK?
While AMD kept tight-lipped on where you'd be able to buy the new graphics cards prior to launch, there's now limited stock of both the Radeon RX 6000 Series at the following retailers - but be quick, stock usually disappears within minutes of going live.
